The AVIXA Foundation Internship Program

This program serves as a bridge between AV industry companies and young professionals seeking the right fit for their future. Interns learn skills and tools on the job needed to advance their careers while providing sponsor companies an opportunity to mold potential employees.

Eligibility:

Individuals applying to be an intern must be students enrolled in a training or degree program related to the Professional Audiovisual (AV) industry.

Steps:

  1. Interested students pair with a company and select the member company that they are working with on the application.
  2. Applications are forwarded to the member company.
  3. The member company selects winners and forwards to the AVIXA Foundation for approval.
  4. The member company and scholarship recipient start the program. The member company sponsor and scholarship recipient will participate in quarterly surveys/outreach to provide feedback to the foundation on the program and their progress.

Components:

  • Tuition Reimbursement**: The selected Intern will receive a $4,000 tuition reimbursement for the school year.
  • Paid Industry Work**: Intern will engage in productive, meaningful work, and that employers abide by certain standards set by both the Department of Labor and National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE).
  • AVIXA Education/Certification: Interns are encouraged to complete Quick Start to the AV Industry, Essentials of AV Technology, CTS Prep Online, and AV Math Online.
  • Mentoring: AVIXA Foundation will periodically check in with the intern through a conference call to allow for questions and discussion of concerns on how the mentor program is working.
  • AVIXA Tradeshows (Optional): Interns will be offered two nights’ hotel lodging, show admission and two seminar vouchers.

Eligibility:

Companies applying to be a sponsor must be members of AVIXA.

Steps:

  1. A member company applies to be a part of this program. Through this application, the member company will identify the program sponsor, how many scholarships/internships the sponsor hopes to offer, what educational institutions the sponsor plans on working with and provide an overall plan. In addition, the application will specify the requirements that must be met by the member company.
  2. The AVIXA Foundation board approves the application or gives any feedback necessary to the member company.
  3. The member company engages with educational institutions and promotes scholarship and internship. The member company gets students interested.
  4. The member company and scholarship recipient start the program. The member company sponsor and scholarship recipient will participate in quarterly surveys/outreach to provide feedback to the foundation on the program and their progress.

Components:

  • Tuition Reimbursement**: The Sponsor will contribute $2,000 and the Foundation will match the $2,000 tuition reimbursement.
  • Paid Industry Work**: The Sponsor will provide a minimum of 5 hours per week of work for the recipient to experience hands-on learning in the AV industry.
  • AVIXA Education/Certification: The Sponsor will encourage and assist the recipient to take Quick Start to the AV Industry, Essentials of AV Technology, CTS Prep Online, and AV Math Online. 
  • Mentoring: Sponsor will designate Point of Contact (PoC) to mentor the recipient. Monthly check-in conference calls with AVIXA and other sponsors will allow for questions, discussion of concerns, and advice on how to work with or mentor an intern.
  • AVIXA Tradeshows (Optional): Intern(s) will be offered two nights’ hotel lodging, show admission and two seminar vouchers.

**Tuition Reimbursement and Paid Industry Work Payment Specifications: The AVIXA Foundation only provides Grant Funds to an Educational Institution in the name of the Grant Recipient. The AVIXA Foundation does not act as an intermediary between Grant Sponsors and Grant Recipients searching for AVIXA Foundation tuition reimbursements or work opportunities. As a result, the AVIXA Foundation has no control over the quality, safety or legality of the grant recipient jobs or submitted resumes, the truth or accuracy of the listings, or the ability of employers to offer job opportunities to Grant Recipients.
